I grew up in Austin, studied at St. Edward's University, and earned my medical degree at the UT Medical Branch in Galveston. I trained in family medicine at St. Anthony's residency in Denver, then came home to Texas. I have cared for families across Rockwall, Rowlett, Garland, and Mesquite since 2004, most of that time with the Baylor Family Health Center of Mesquite.
I loved the medicine. I did not love what insurance had done to it: ten rushed minutes, surprise bills weeks later, and overhead that ate the time that should have gone to patients. I left Baylor in 2017 and started Gem MD to practice the way I always believed medicine should work, with time, attention, and no middleman.
Outside the office I am married with four kids, and you will usually find me cycling, running, skiing, or with a crochet project in hand. I also volunteer with the International Cultic Studies Association, helping people who have escaped cults recover from group psychological abuse. When you join Gem MD, you get a doctor who has the time to actually know you.
