Dr. Meyrat saved my life during Covid-19. She is thorough, caring, and met me where I was at during a difficult moment in my life. My whole family is grateful for her service. Best doctor ever! Her staff is awesome as well.

Gem MD was able to get us in for testing when other offices had month-long waitlists. The family membership is extremely reasonable, communication is easy, and lab prices are a fraction of what we've paid elsewhere.

Common Questions

What patients ask before joining

Straight answers to the questions we hear most often.

What is Direct Primary Care?

DPC is a membership-based primary care model. You pay a flat monthly fee, you get unlimited visits, convenient scheduling, and direct text access to your doctor. We do not bill insurance. Most in-office tests are free. Lab work and x-rays can be run through insurance or paid at discounted cash prices.

Do I still need insurance?

You do not need insurance to be a member, and you do not have to give up the insurance you have. If you have good insurance and want to keep it, that is no problem. We can still file your insurance for imaging, referrals, and lab work we order. If insurance works for you, use it. If it does not, we have an alternative. Either way you get the same care at the same rate.

What we do strongly recommend, though we do not require it, is some form of coverage for catastrophic events like hospitalizations and surgeries. If you have access to a low monthly premium plan, take it. If you do not, we have teamed up with Sedera Health Share to offer our patients an exclusive discount.

Can I use my HSA?

Yes. Starting in 2026, federal law lets most people pay a Direct Primary Care membership with HSA dollars, up to $150 a month for an individual and $300 for a family. We provide itemized receipts. Confirm your own eligibility with your HSA administrator or tax advisor. Read more on HSA eligibility.

What does my membership include?

Unlimited office visits during office hours. Unlimited access by phone, email, and text. No charge for in-office tests like rapid strep, flu, urinalysis, pregnancy, glucose, and EKG. No charge for paperwork we complete on your behalf. Labs and x-rays can be run through insurance or paid at our discounted cash prices.

How much is membership?

Ages 0-20: $53.50/month ($37.45 with an enrolled parent or guardian). Adults 21-44: $69.55/month. Adults 45+: $101.65/month. One-time $95 registration fee per family, waived for business members. 10% discount for families with 3 or more enrolled individuals.

What do immunizations and injections cost?

Steroid and Rocephin (antibiotic) injections are included in your membership at no additional charge. Other injectable medicines such as Depo-Provera, testosterone, and vitamin B12 are ordered from the pharmacy as needed and supplied at cost, so the price varies. For immunizations, TDAP for adults is $50, and all vaccines for uninsured or under-insured children are $7 each. Other immunizations are available at the pharmacy for adults and insured children.

How much does GLP-1 weight management cost?

The medication is the only added cost. Semaglutide starts at $105 per month and tirzepatide at $150 per month. Everything around it is already part of your membership at no additional fee, including the consultations, dose adjustments, side-effect management, and follow-up visits. Baseline bloodwork runs about $100 at our discounted lab pricing.

Is this concierge medicine?

We are a type of concierge practice. By eliminating insurance billing, we cut the overhead most practices spend on coding, claims, and prior authorizations. Those savings get passed directly to you, so we can focus more on the patient instead of paperwork.

What about emergencies and specialists?

DPC covers primary care. For everything else we coordinate referrals to trusted specialists at negotiated cash prices, or you can use your insurance. Pair your DPC membership with a high-deductible or catastrophic plan to cover major events affordably.

How do I sign up?

Three steps. Schedule a free meet-and-greet so we can answer your questions. Sign up via our patient portal in about 5 minutes. Book your first appointment whenever you are ready. We are at 1944 N. Lakeshore Dr in Rockwall.

Why is paying cash cheaper than using my insurance?

It sounds backwards, but filing a service through insurance usually raises its price. If you carry a high deductible, you end up paying that higher price yourself.

Here is a real example. A HIDA scan at a local hospital was priced at $1,500 when billed through insurance. The same scan for the same patient, paid in cash without filing, was $600. Because we do not bill third parties, we can negotiate for the lowest rates we can find on imaging and labs and pass them straight to you. Most blood tests sent to an outside lab cost less than $20, and tests run in our office are included in your membership.

Do you accept Medicare patients?

We love Medicare patients and we are happy to see you. What we do not do is bill Medicare.

Billing Medicare brings a large amount of required busy work that pulls time away from patient care, and we did not want to recreate that. You are still welcome to file labs, imaging, and prescriptions with Medicare yourself, though our negotiated cash rates are often low enough that it may not be worth the paperwork. In-office labs and tests are included in your membership. The care and the price are the same whether you are insured, uninsured, or on Medicare.
